- What is Oneplay?
- ----------------
- VGA Planets is a great multiplayer strategy game that unfortunately
- does not have a single player option. Oneplay was designed to allow an
- easy way for a single player to practice against the computer.
-
-
- Why?
- ----
- It takes alot of strategy to win a game in VGA Planets.
- Making errors in the middle of a game against 10 experienced players can
- often prove fatal. Playing against easy opponents like the computer will
- give you enough time to improve before challenging veteran players.
- Sometimes when multiplayer games are unavailable or the competition in
- available games are just a little too tough then having in between games
- against the computer will only help your abilities. Plus, it's good to
- try every race's advantages that won't be possible in a crowded game.
- By playing with each one, you can tell whether or not they are really worth
- playing.
-
- The new scenario expansion modules are integrated into this package to let
- players practice the different conditions of each one.
-
-
- Files included and needed
- -------------------------
- oneplay.exe - To start Oneplay
- one.exe \
- vpread.exe > Oneplay support files
- input.exe /
- cplayer.exe - Computer player program
- Sweep.bat - Delete old files routine
- rconfig \
- ref > Scenario expansion module
-
- * Full installation of VGA Planets Version 3.0 is also required
-
-
- Easy Setup
- ----------
- You must have VGA Planets fully installed, which includes both the
- Host and Player files.
- If you are currently playing VGA Planets then it would be advisable
- to reinstall VGA Planets in a different directory to avoid conflict
- with your current games.
- Copy all the Oneplay files to VGA Planets directory.
-
-
- Starting Oneplay
- ----------------
- To run Oneplay, type:
-
- oneplay
-
- The first time you run it will erase any other games in the directory
- and a new one will be started.
-
-
- Menu Commands
- -------------
- These commands will become available after the setup configuration is
- completed.
-
- [p] Play/continue a game with a selected race against the chosen
- computer opponents.
-
- [e] End turn and process your actions and computer actions for the
- next turn.
-
- [c] Choose a different race to play from the selected ones in the
- current game.
-
- [n] Quit current game and start a new game with a new setup.
-
- [q] Quit to DOS and leave current game intact.
-
-
- Freeware
- --------
- Oneplay is freeware, but I must insist that the files in the
- archive must remain unaltered unless by express permission of the
- author. Many of the support programs that are written for
- VGA Planets are freeware, however the main client program
- for VGA Planets, PLANETS.EXE, is a shareware program. I
- invite you to register the game if you are a player and
- have not yet registered. See the order form at the end of
- this document.
